Over the last 10 years, NWP has become a place for people to find common ground and rally around conservation issues and legislation that make sense for Nevada – and more important, for countless generations who will come after us. To do this, we have always worked to mobilize people for public lands advocacy – mobilize them with facts about our proposals, honest communication about our opposition and with opportunities to take meaningful action. We inform and educate people through our website, e-mail and publications. |

And we talk and listen. A lot. We have conversations with people at farmers’ markets, public meetings, libraries, club gatherings, in their homes, on hikes – and our favorite: at happy hours at the local brew pub. We talk about our passion for wilderness and believe, as Henry David Thoreau writes, “In wildness is the preservation of the world.” And more often than not, it’s a message that resonates with almost everyone we’ve met.
- We have more than 750 members throughout the state and nation, and three overseas.
- We partner with four other non-profit groups in Nevada.
- Every year, approximately 100 people write letters to the editor in support of NWP.
- We lead about two dozen hikes per year, something we call putting “faces to places,” showing politicians, new residents and old-timers alike some of the best wild lands of Nevada.
- In one year, volunteers host and attend five to seven house parties, sharing info about conservation issues, great food and even better camaraderie. We invite you to join us.
